Smells Bad and Food Taste Bad!!!!! February 3, 2010 Brooke J. Franklin (ks) We used this in our office and after about 6 months we noticed the microwave made a high pitch squeal and when you would open the door it kind of smelled like it was burning up-like melted plastic. It still works but now our food is starting to be tastless, except for a metalic and plastic taste. Cant be healthy! We are throwing it in the trash and getting a new GE! By the way this was bought in store not online.
One month is all it was worth. January 27, 2010 Sean B. Daughtry (Virginia) We received this Microwave as a gift for Christmas to replace the 11 year old one that worked fine but was outdated. This CuisinArt microwave looked very nice and worked just fine out of the box for exactly one month. Now everytime you close the door, it turns on by itself and stays on. It just goes and goes and you can't press any buttons to stop it. The only way to stop it is to unplug the darn thing. Now we don't have a microwave because last week, I gave the old one to a good cause. This just happened so I can't comment on how the return of this product will be, but I would certainly steer clear of buying this junk and I would also recommend you NOT buying any small appliance over the internet. There are some purchases that are great to buy online but small appliances isn't one of them. Save your money and frozen food and DO NOT BUY the CuisinArt CMW-100 Microwave! It has a mind of its' own and is quite dangerous.
I love This Microwave January 8, 2010 W. Thomas 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great microwave. It is so sleek looking, both inside and out. I have used it everyday. I admit, I have to keep the instruction booklet on my cabinet by it, as I am using it to actually cook my meals. I don't use it just to reheat food. I would recommend this microwave to everyone.
Best looking by far December 23, 2009 Lucky Girl (In a good place!) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent product for the price. If you are short on space, this unit looks smart inside and out. The outside side panels are NOT stainless - they are gray, so if you're trying to keep a clean look that matches fridge/stove/etc, a cubby or nook to place it in would be best. I've actually had people exclaim out loud when the open it... the inside is gorgeous.
This is my third Cuisinart product. My experience with customer service has been great, especially the man who ran the warehouse that my coffee maker parts came from. Send in your warranty card: if anything goes wrong you have a better chance of smooth dealings.
::cannot clean the spatter off of a spatter prone gadget:: Look elsewhere December 16, 2009 Neema Kharva (Seattle, WA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
UPDATE: no joy of clean :( - Updating review to 1 star
The bad, no the real REAL bad
- You CANNOT sanitize this puppy completely.
here is why: anyone who has used a microwave has experienced a splatter here and there. I am no exception either. Up until now, I would grudgingly ignore the door after making sure the rest of it was sparkling. Last night I re-heated some ravioli in marinara sauce and forgot to cover it. So I got a huge tomato splatter in the interior and yes I earned it. Fair enough.
I just called Cuisinart this morning and they told me, the door is not designed to be cleaned!!!! Hello?!!! NOT DESIGNED TO BE CLEANED? Ever heard something so illogical? If you are rolling your eyes at that, listen to this. The lady then went on to advise me that I should use a paper towel to cover the door every time I microwave.
I will post pictures another time, but please save your money and don't buy one of these until the engineers at Cuisinart rectify this obvious design flaw.(after ALL the gadgets they manufacture - they did not foresee this? do they test these things before they put out to the public)
Funny, even though the joke is on me.
The good:
- Good looking - and in my kitchen, and I am sure in yours :) - that is a must
- Compact, does not occupy too much counter space (if you put it there, that is). I put mine on a wine stand that is about a foot wide.
- handy in a crunch - is stainless steel friendly and therefore great for reheating food without having to transfer it to 'microwave' safe containers first. I cannot live without this feature - spoilt - I know
- great price point
- I am sorry to disagree with other users who found this junk - I have owned one for two years, and have never had a problem with it. (who know, my almost negative review might be my undoing)
- mostly easy to clean - cleaning the door is a whole other ball game
*** The three stars were because the product lasted me flawlessly for so long. It still works.
